FAQ’s
How much will my removal cost?
Answer
Local removals are charged per hour and it is a depot to depot charge. Our company have a minimum of 2 hours that we charge. Every removal is different. Things that affect the time is:
-
How well prepared you are. Have you packed all your boxes in proper removal size boxes? Do we have to dismantle things like beds or have you done it.
-
Access – Is it a lowset house or are we working from the third floor. Do the truck have to park on the road 50m away or can it park directly outside the garage? Is it flat or do you
have a sloped driveway? -
Delays – can we move into your new house when we arrive or do we have to wait for settlement, keys etc.
-
How much do you have. Some people will have three times as much than others in the same size house.
-
What size truck do we use. Larger trucks have more room to work with and generally load faster. Some houses have restrictions however which might force us to use a smaller
truck.
There is no easy answer to your question. By completing our Online Quote Request as well as you can, will assist in us giving you a good estimate.
Are you insured?
Answer
We have insurance like most other companies. This does however not automatically cover you. With the Financial Reformed Act now in place, removalist are not allowed to discuss a customers´ insurance with him / her unless qualified as a financial advisor or licensed to sell insurance. We therefore recommend you discuss this with your broker.
Can I help to load?
Answer
We do not mind if you want to help. Please discuss it with us when you make your booking. You obviously do this at your own risk.
Do you take pot plants?
Answer
Yes we do, provided it fit on the truck, and that the men can handle them. Please phone the DPI to get clearance before we arrive. You need to give us the number provided by the DPI. (Department of Primary Industries)
Please do not water your plants the day before, as it spills into the truck and may cause boxes to get wet etc. We do not take any responsibility for pots that might crack during the move.
Do you work on an hourly rate or fixed quote?
Answer
Both, but we will always suggest the hourly rate. Any removalist giving you a fixed quote will make sure he allows himself enough time to complete the job. On the hourly rate, you win all the time we save. Customers in the past have saved 20% and more on the fixed quotes, provided they were well prepared.
What happens if it rains?
Answer
In most cases we wait till it settles down and then continue. Only when it continues for a long time without a brake, would we consider to reschedule your work.
My house settles at 15h00, what now?
Answer
Complete the Online Quote Request as accurately as possible. We will determine the latest possible starting time in order to finish loading at settlement time. This helps to cut down any standing time for you.
